Unification of Treatments and Interventions for Tinnitus Patients - UNITI

At the end of January, UNITI and its ambitions and current progress was presented at the yearly Winter Retreat of our UNITI Consortium Partner the University Hospital of Würzburg, Germany, and its Institute for Clinical Epidemiology and Biometry.

We thank the team very much indeed for their most fruitful engagement, especially in the areas of app programming and data analysis - and for presenting UNITI to their colleagues in other areas!

All UNITI wishes all of you and your loved ones the Best, Happiest, and Healthiest 2021!
For us, 2021 will bring many exciting developments, especially the start of our large clinical trial on tinnitus, with clinical centres in Regensburg (Germany), Berlin (Germany), Granada (Spain), Athens (Greece) and Leuven (Belgium). The UNITI consortium is glad and thankful to report that on December 15, 2020, Ronny Hannemann (right) of WSA/Sivantos (also member of the UNITI Advisory Board) handed over a first delivery of 220 (of 400) Signia Pure 312 X hearing aids to UNITI Project Coordinator Winfried Schlee (left) and ENT colleagues Veronika Vielsmeier and Steven Marcrum at the Regensburg University Hospital, UKR.

For the UNITI clinical trial, foreseen to start in early 2021, hearing aid provision to study participants with hearing aid indication will be one treatment arm. Now, the devices will be set-up by head audiologist Steven Marcrum, and also sent to the other four clinical centres

We very proudly announce that UNITI Scientific Coordinator, PD Dr Winfried Schlee, tinnitus researcher at Regensburg University, received this year's prestigious tinnitus research award by the German Foundation "Tinnitus and Hearing" of Charité Berlin!

Due to the current special circumstances, the award was presented in a virtual ceremony online, on December 3.

This recognition is connected to a monetary reward, in support of further innovative tinnitus research.

The entire UNITI consortium is immensely happy about Winny Schlee's achievement and excited about upcoming developments in our field!
