UNITI results

UNITI project finished in September 2023. It’s overall aim was to deliver a predictive computational model based on existing and longitudinal data attempting to address the question which treatment approach is optimal for a specific patient based on specific parameters. Clinical, epidemiological, medical, genetic and audiological data, including signals reflecting ear-brain communication, were analysed from existing databases. Predictive factors for different patient groups were extracted and their prognostic relevance were tested in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) in which different groups of patients underwent a combination of therapies targeting the auditory and central nervous systems.

UNITI Mario NegriMembers of the UNITI consortium had the opportunity to meet at Mario Negri Institute (Milan) on the 27th and 28th of June 2023. The main topic of this meeting was to discuss the results of the socio-economic questionnaire, i.e. what are the costs associated with tinnitus. Strategic decisions were made and a manuscript is being prepared. From an exploitation and sustainability point of view, it was considered important to develop a new questionnaire based on the lessons learnt during the analysis of our results (which questions are important and which ones need to be modified or eliminated). General guidelines will be integrated into the final paper, and the idea is to propose the questionnaire as an appendix to the manuscript.
